WHAT IS AN MSP — AND WHY YOU MAY NEED ONE

What is an MSP?

MSP is a Managed Service Provider who takes care of and manages your PC’s, MACs, servers, backups, networks, etc.

MSP’s are multi-personnel organizations that have specialists in different areas and enough personnel to support you on a 24×7 basis.

Often a MSP will replace the need for having a complete IT staff for companies that cannot afford – or do not want — the overhead of a complete IT staff.

A good MSP will also provide your company with RMM (Remote Monitoring and Management), which allows your MSP to manage your computers and networks remotely. This is a big benefit, as it is like having an onsite IT staff without the continuing overhead.

Why Do You Need an MSP?

As we all know, technology is now getting simpler and more complex at the same time.
With cell phones, MACs, PC’s, the Internet, etc., we are finding a huge wealth of information and convenience at our fingertips. However, along with this convenience, we are finding that the supporting structures of severs, clouds, network security, viruses, fiber optics, bandwidth, etc., continue to become harder and hard to support.

It the early days of computers it was easy to find a single person to fulfill all your computer needs. Now it is very hard to find a single person who knows everything necessary to support your growing needs.

Additionally, your needs may be of a 24×7 nature. It is very hard for a single person to be on call 24×7 for the entire year.

Now – the last question – how to find a good MSP? That will be the topic of our next blog.

Until next time!!
